Something has been missing this postseason. It's been wildly entertaining, but I've missed that Spurs game at home where they get every call (some, rightfully) and it raised your San Antonio hate level to red. This happened last night, particularly during the 3rd quarter.
In Game 5, New Orleans won the game with a big offensive run, fueled by great defense and some highlight dunks to get the crowd on their feet. Last night, the Spurs took over the game with a series of flops that NBA officials always buy at home.
This video was posted below, but wanted to get my two cents in.
The first call on Bowen is an embarrassment to NBA officials. It's not even borderline that he's underneath the hoop and in the circle. It's an obvious block.
Second call on Bowen is an embarrassment to him. Tough guy Bruce turns into a total flake and Chris Paul into the incredible hulk.
The third on Duncan is debatable. Didn't hate the call, but I think he was late and helped himself tremendously with a classic overacted Spurs flop. This was just three of what seemed like a dozen calls all in about two minutes on New Orleans. Chris Paul picked up No. 3 and 4. David West picked up a couple. Bam! Spurs up 15. Game over.
It's disgusting, but this is what basketball has become. Not to mention Cheap Shot Bob coming into the game late to take out David West. We'll have more on that later.
For now, we'll look forward to what should be a very dramatic Game 7 on the Hornets home court.
Actually, I think the first one was a good call; I think they called a push-off with Paul's left arm, as opposed to a charge. The 3rd one, on West, I think was also a good call, albeit with a bit of a flop. But, he had his head & shoulder in Duncan's chest; that will get called 90+% of the time. The 2nd one on Paul, that's the one I have a prob with. Yeah, he may have done a slight push, but Bowen exaggerated it like no end. In fact, after the 'push' from Paul, Bowen ran about as fast as I've EVER seen him run !

Should make for a great Game 7 !!
Well you are a wrong about the first one. If you are in the half circle under the basket, (which Bowen clearly was) its a blocking foul, no matter what.

Actually according to the rules a charging call is the only foul that cannot happen when the defensive player is inside the restricted area. Other types of offensive fouls can still be called. So Keeter is right since they didn't call Paul for a charge then it was perfectly legal for the refs to call a foul on him.

They called a charge for the first one. So therefore is should have been a blocking foul.
