San Antonio Spurs Score Record Low* 5 First Quarter Points
A Big Ten basketball game has broken out in San Antonio tonight. Your defending champion Spurs, owner of a 37-17 record, shot 1-for-17 in the first quarter tonight resulting in a grand total of 5 points. The Atlanta Hawks haven't been much better tonight, scoring 16 points.

There needs to be a video of this beautiful Spurs quarter than I can watch on repeat several times tomorrow. The score at halftime right now is 37-30. Trust me, this isn't the Knicks vs Grizzlies we're talking about here. Hopefully more carnage occurs in the 2nd half.

*I can't confirm which records the Spurs have helped set (because the NBA does not offer up any convenient means over the WWW to find out), but at the very least they helped the Hawks set their lowest points allowed mark. One would think 5 points is very close to the all-time mark for a team in a quarter. Anyone know?

ESPNEWS just said that the 5 points is a franchise record low for any quarter but nothing about NBA record.

Of course, now they've "caught fire" and lead 51-41 near the end of the third and the Hawks are close to a record low quarter. What an atrocious game.

What did they not have a ladder to get the ball out of the peach basket?

The record is 2 points. Golden State Warriors. Happenned a couple of years ago. They were outscored like 24-2 in the 4th and OT was forced. 2 points in the NBA low.

i think (the old days), the Nuggets and Spurs are up there for one of the highest scoring games in history, so that would be crazy if they combined for one of the lowest. lol. I know the Bobcats have the low. They barely scored 60 against the Spurs a few weeks ago.
