Meet WR Dionte Sykes, Aztec Football's Next Potential Star
He played some defense, too, recording two sacks during his senior year. He also flashed his speed and strength as a star lettering in track and field.
Different recruiting sites have all recognized his talents: 247sports gave him a grade of 87 and ESPN ranked him the 76th-best receiver in the 2014 recruiting class. Sykes' ESPN scouting report says that his biggest strengths are his ability to snatch the ball out of the air and his jumping ability--both perfect skills for a red zone threat.
Next year Sykes will join the San Diego State Aztecs and a top-heavy wide receiver class with a lot of young talent vying for the third and fourth receiver slots. Expect this Arizona-native, who originally committed to UCLA before de-committing in November 2013, to immediately compete to early playing time--especially in the red zone.
