San Francisco 49ers Interim Head Coach Mike Singletary Rant About Vernon Davis

Mike Singletary May Have Coached His First Game Sunday, But He Sure Does Make A Nice Impression In San Fran

So how did he do on Day 1? While the score may have been dreadful (the 49ers lost to the equally sad Seahawks 34-13), Mike Singletary sure did make an impression that fans and players alike have a lot to be excited for. Not only did he throw out the most talented player on the team, Vernon Davis, (who apparently thinks he still didn't do anything wrong) after an unnecessary roughness penalty and to compound that with a nonchalant/uncaring attitude on the bench, Singletary also had a post-game press conference that Jim Mora would be proud of.

While this is Mike's first head coaching experience, he has been an assistant for the past 4 years in Baltimore as well as San Francisco. Put that experience with the 12 year career and the known defensive leader of the 80's Chicago Bears defense; Mike Singletary looks to have all the parts needed to be a great NFL head coach...

...Now only if he had actual players to coach.

The proposals I've heard on the table are:

1. Stay in San Francisco, build in the Candlestick parking lot, demolish Candlestick (similar to what they're doing in New York with Shea Stadium/Citi Field).
2. The 2012 concept you've probably seen a lot of renderings for to be built in Santa Clara.
3. Not quite as serious, but the 49ers, Raiders, and Chargers are among names near the top to move to the Los Angeles area and the stadium being proposed in City of Industry, California.

There may be more options being discussed, but those are the ones I've heard of.  The fact this is even in dispute is ridiculous if you consider the amount of success and revenue the team has brought to that city over the last 40 years.

Yeah I've heard similar things. Let's hope so. However, I've also heard that if the new stadium doesn't get built (it's been in the "planning" stages for like 5 years now) the Yorks might try and move the team to LA. Yikes.

Yes, that's what we need... change for the Niners you can believe in!

Is the niner ownership smart enough to hire singletary.  That is the bottom line.  As a die hard seahawk fan,i hope they aren't.

As a Packer fan for over 30 years ... I can say with certainty ... as far as the whole package goes ... other than Sweetness Singletary was the greatest Chicago bear football player i ever got to see play live. I think you 49er fans are lucky to have him. Give him 4 years and be patient... but this guy is a 1st class winner all the way.

I know how a move to L.A. would make me feel, so I can only imagine how it would impact the fans in the Bay Area.  That would be devastating.  Hopefully it will never come to that.

I always found it interesting that the SF Giants haven't won anything since moving out west and have one of the most beautiful venues in sports, but the 49ers have one of the most successful NFL franchises and can't get a shovel in the dirt.  I know no team is going to be a winner every year, but we sure have fallen real far, real fast.

Actually, there is some hope.  Apparently the young Jed York is moving up the chain and from what I've read he seems to have more of a zest for winning than his old man.  You guys out in SF would know more than I would, but maybe all is not lost if he gets the keys to the car someday.

The ownership sucks in SF. I wish Mike the best, but he's not going to get a lot of help. The Yorks are idiots and seem to only care that the team is bringing in money.

The new ground for the 49ers has now been broken, now lets see if it translate into wins. Winning is ALL ATITUDE, Nothing more.

even if he gets fired and hopefully he will not-
thats what these players need
thats why the cowgirls are having a tough year- the coach don't coach-

I love it.  More of this please.

Hopefully Vernon Davis will have the lightbulb come on and he will realize his potential to be the genetic freak he is.  I'm a serious mark for the guy and I'm tired of watching him underachieve.  Also, I hope Shaun Hill remains the starter.  O'Sullivan has zero vision, terrible judgement, and is responsible for all but two of the 49ers turnovers this season.  The experiment has failed.  Get him out!

I think mike just won himself a permanentcoaching job.  that is exactly what an nfl team needs is a coach who isn't gonna take any b.s. from the "star" players.  You fight together as a team or you lose together as a team.  it's never a one man show up there.  I'm glad mike sat that dude.  even if he gets fired at the end of the year, there is always a coaching job for you, Mike, with my detroit lions.  they need someone who will kick their ass around and make them win!!!!

I'm not an od school guy at all, but how can you not love this?  I'm already convinced that if he's ever given any talent to work with, that Singletary will be a winner.

Mike is the MAN....he can coach on my  sidelines anytime......his team may not have the most talent in the league but i bet he will get the most out of what he has to work with.......
