Mandatory Credit: Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY SportsMany of us have come to remember Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman as the outspoken person who will readily decimate an opponent team with his loud mouth. But when speaking on the upcoming Super Bowl in which the Seahawks will face the Denver Broncos, Sherman had different words to share.
He didn’t label the Broncos as being the average team, how unprofessional they were and how he was going to crush them. He replied quite in the opposite manner that people had expected him to. Instead of the usual he actually commended the Broncos on being an excellent team.
And it seems the Broncos heard what he had to say and liked it. Their wide receiver Demaryius Thomas responded in kind, complimenting on how good Sherman was as a cornerback and was definitely a factor worth pondering and preparing over.
“I think I’ve faced more physical, but he is physical,” Thomas said. “He’ll switch it up. He doesn’t always try to be physical because he doesn’t have to. He’ll switch up stuff; that’s why I feel like he’s one of the best at what he does.”
Thomas added that he had noticed the way Sherman played and it was clear he brought a lot to the field with him. He also said that he always had the ball in his eyes.
“I noticed he’s, most of the time, in the right spot. I’m sure he studies a lot, and, of course, he’s talented. I don’t know if he’s thinking and I don’t know if its talent, but he’s always around the ball.”
Sherman wasn’t at good relations with Michael Crabtree but he and Thomas have met a couple of times and he was open in labeling him as a friend. And Thomas said that facing a talented cornerback on the field was always something that he looked forward to and Sherman was one of the five best in the NFL. Thomas said playing against him on the field would be an excellent and fun experience.
“I respect it,” Thomas said of Sherman’s comments. “He’s one of the best in the league. So coming from him, that’s good.”
