Seahawks manhandle Broncos to win Super Bowl XLVIII
Everything that could go wrong for the Broncos did. In addition to that safety, Peyton Manning threw two interceptions in the first half, one of which was returned for a touchdown. Percy Harvin began the second half by returning the kickoff for a touchdown. The Denver defense could not tackle. In the fourth quarter, Marshawn Lynch was taken out of the game and was seen with his shoes off. Tavaris Jackson played the last three minutes. The only bad thing that happened to Seattle tonight was Richard Sherman getting carted off the field with an ankle injury. You can definitely argue that the 2013-14 Broncos played the worst game of any Super Bowl participant ever.
Going in, it was a game between the best offense and the best defense in the game, and the defense won convincingly. The #HotSportsTake gang will have a field day with Peyton, who broke the record for most completions in a Super Bowl yet still was terrible. The Seattle defense was everywhere all game. Fittingly, linebacker Malcolm Smith, far from one of the household names of this defense, was named Super Bowl MVP. Smith caught the pick six in the second quarter to make it 22-0, and later recovered a fumble in the third, ending what was the first real drive Denver had.
Congrats to the Seahawks and their fans, especially our own Jess. She was at the game, and presumably in the coming days we'll hear all about it.
