Sad, sad news in the sports world this morning. Washington Redskins safety, Sean Taylor has died due to a gunshot wound he suffered early yesterday morning, when he experienced intruders attempting to get into his back door. He was hit in the groin. According to a family friend, Richard Sharpstein.

"His father called and said he was with Christ and he cried and thanked me," said Sharpstein, Taylor's former lawyer.

"It's a tremendously sad and unnecessary event. He was a wonderful, humble, talented young man, and had a huge life in front of him. Obviously God had other plans."

Sean was a great safety, and he will be truly missed. He was only twenty-four years old.

5	This is horrible. He was a great player, even if he was a Redskin. Life is more important than football though. Sad Sad Sad! This happened to Texans CB Dunta Robinson over the summer, fortunately for Robinson, he was tied up but unharmed. Thoughts and prayers for everyone involved.

I was laying in bed asleep this morning and my husband walked in and said, "Sean Taylor died" and I sat up with a jolt and said, "WHAT?!" I couldn't believe it! That's definitely not what I wanted to wake up to this morning... When I went to bed last night he was at least responding..... It's insane! This guy was my age and he hadn't really begun to live his life.... I have never understood how people could be so cruel...... If you get a football league going up there, when I get to heaven I wanna be on your team! RIP Sean.

This is so wrong... how people can be so (i can't think of a word). Evil poisons the world... it's so sad. That evil must be beaten. Brought to justice. Sean, you take care. You had a great 24 first, but there was no right to take it away. You take care. May Jesus carry you. Take care.

You may already have, but if everyone can take a moment of silence for him, let our prayers lift his soul to the Lord.

What a tragedy. I logged online this morning and had an offline message in my YIM informing me that Taylor didn't make it. I was shocked, and of course my first thought was as everyone else's seems to have been - "but...he was responsive last night!" It just made me sick to my stomach.

It's so horrible that people can do these kinds of things to another human being. My thoughts and prayers are with family and friends of Sean.

1	I know Taylor had some off and on field problems at times. As a player, there were not many players above him that I would not want to run my route towards. From what I have heard and am still hearing, he seemed like a genuine good guy who was looking to change his life for the better. I am still in awe from the news. Rest In Peace, Sean.

Thanks for cleaning up my Blog Jason, I was in a rush for school, but I had a feeling you wern't awake or what not so I posted. This is one of the really sad sports stories nobody wants to hear. Even though Taylor played for the Redskins, he was honestly one of my favrorite players, he was an amazing player, and even though he had some troubles off the field, he seemed like a pretty good guy. Way to young to die, but only the good die young. rip Sean.
