Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are launching campaigns to bring in the Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo. Reports from Spain indicate that Alvaro Negredo is on the verge of making a big move to the Premier Leaguer.

The transfer deal for Alvaro Negredo is reportedly in its advanced stages with Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido flying to London in order to confirm the sale yesterday. Sevilla hasn’t publically announced selling Alvaro Negredo, but the deal seems to be a done deal.

The 27-year-old Spanish striker has been in fine form for Sevilla this season. Alvaro Negredo has scored 11 goals in 18 appearances for Sevilla this season. Sevilla are undergoing financial difficulties which is why the Spanish outfit decided to sell their prized asset as soon as they got an opportunity.

Sevilla must have pocketed at least £15 million from the sale of Alvaro Negredo. It’s not been confirmed which London club acquired his services, but Arsenal have been the favorites since the beginning.

Moreover, just yesterday Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas announced that he wasn’t going bring any new strikers to White Hart Lane during the January transfer window.

Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been closely linked to a couple of other strikers. Therefore, the probability of Alvaro Negredo’s arrival at Arsenal has a high possibility.

Newcastle United, who recently lose Demba Ba to Chelsea, have been closely monitoring Alvaro Negredo’s transfer saga in hopes of acquiring the Spain international for a cut-price. However, Alvaro Negredo is expected to go for the club that guarantees Champions League action.

Alvaro Negredo, who has netted eight times in 16 La Liga appearances this season, was signed in by Sevilla from Real Madrid in 2009 for €15 million. Real Madrid had the option to buy back the player in the first two years, but they decided against it.

The former Almeria player has capped only 12 times Spain with his last appearance in May of last year. Alvaro Negredo has also scored six goals for Spain.
