The Phillies' All-Star center fielder Shane Victorino is headed to LA to join the Los Angeles Dodgers. In the trade, the Dodgers gave up non-crucial parts of their offense in relief pitcher Josh Lindblom and Ethan Martin from their minor league team. According to Yahoo! Sports:"Philadelphia also gets a player to be named or cash for the 31-year-old Victorino, who can become a free agent after the season."
The Dodgers' GM Ned Colletti already gave a statement saying:
''We're excited to add an All-Star caliber player with postseason experience. He plays the game with passion, gives us a top of the order bat from both sides of the plate, can steal bases and is solid defensively in the outfield.''
More than anything the Dodgers should be excited about what Victorino can do on offense since they've been inconsistent this year. Even just having another passionate, All-Star presence will be uplifting for the players.
Fans will have to adjust too. For years, Victorino has been heavily booed in Chavez Ravine, but now fans will need to welcome him with open arms!
