Shaq and Kidd trades, failure?
by arthur1721

In February the Phoenix Suns traded Shawn Marion and some other guy to Miami for Shaq. Also around that time The Dallas Mavericks traded a bunch of their players, and Keith Van Horn who really is not even in the NBA, for Jason Kidd. Everybody, EVERYBODY is calling these trades a failure already but i am not so sure about both of them.

Phoenix needed a big guy and a guy who can defend so they could have one of those guys if they needed to win in the playoffs or something like that. They did lose this year in the first round to the very team they got Shaq to beat, but the Spurs won because they are the Spurs not because Shaq sucked. Shaq did not mesh with their offense. He's also just kind of old and way way way past his prime, but don't be so quick to call it a failure yet. Shaq will still be able to give two productive years first of all because he always does but also because he's in a conference where there is one true center that will be hard to cover (Yao) but that dude's always injured. Of course there is Duncan, Dirk, maybe Bynum but Shaq and Amare together will be able to guard them. So this trade is not a failure, not yet, it's not a success but it's not as bad as most think.

Dallas needed a point guard because there are guys like CP3, Deron Williams, Nash, Parker, Baron Davis the list goes on. J-Kidd has been one of the best PGs ever in the game and is the best guard rebounder ever. The Mavs played the Hornets in the first round which they got killed. Same result as the Suns and Spurs but they got Kidd to guard PGs. CP3 went ape shit on Dallas and Kidd was nowhere to be seen. They got Kidd to win now, this year, they knew he had one good run left in him. Now he's too old. Now he has shown that he can't be the J-Kidd he was half a decade years ago. The worst part was that the series would go seven if CP3 is contained. This trades a failure.
