Growing up, Shawn Kemp was one of my favorite NBA players. He was easily one of the most exciting players in the NBA during his time in Seattle. Well, things started going bad for the Reign Man after getting traded to Cleveland, he ballooned to over 300+ lbs. and it turned out that he had many kids with many women.Well, in a recent interview with the Seattle Times, after Kemp played as a guest celebrity at the International Basketball League All-Star Classic, Kemp dropped this little nugget:
"I'm actually thinking about running some marathons. My goal is to run the New York City Marathon in about two years. That's a big challenge for me."
That's right, 6'10" Shawn Kemp is training to run in marathons. Now you might be wondering, I thought he was 300+ lbs? It turns out Kemp has been working out and has dropped over 50 lbs. and is down to 255. He's actually gotten his weight down to the number of illegitimate kids that he has.
I am glad to see that he has turned his life back around and will be trying to run in marathons. A word of caution to Kemp though, watch out for those marathon groupies. Once those women see your skills on the pavement, they'll be throwing themselves at you.
