Golf is a fantastic, yet maddening game. More time s than not, hitting the tiny ball into a hole hundreds of yards away seems impossible. Often, I step onto the 1st wondering why I just spent perfectly entertaining Wrigley Field bleacher seats to torture myself for 4 hours chasing a white dimpled sphere. What makes a round worthwhile is one bomb straight down the fairway, or a rolling chip in.Then there's always a hole-in-one which can make a lifetime of golf worthwhile. Especially if, you know, you were blind.
Sheila Drummond is believed to be the first completely blind female golfer to ever hit a hole-in-one. Drummond is 53, and evidence it's never too late to pick up golf ... and yes, I'm totally serious."I hit the ball and one of my opponents said: 'Oh, that's a great shot'," Drummond told Reuters on Monday.
"Then she said: 'It's going over (the green), no wait, it's going in the cup!' We all heard the ball hit the pin and I asked: 'Are you sure it's in the hole?'
"Then we raced off in our carts over the bridge and the water toward the green before I knew I had my first hole-in-one."
