Shelley Duncan has instantly made himself my favorite Yankee of all time. Not that it's much of an accomplishment. Duncan was signing some autographs before Friday's series opener with the Red Sox, and decided to have a little fun with 10-year-old Griffin Whitman's notebook.
“Red Sox Suck! Shelley Duncan.”Unfortunately, this Boston family didn't bring their sense of humor to the game and took offense to the gesture.
"I thought I was back in middle school or high school, where you try to make a joke or say something funny, and you end up saying something that gets you in trouble,” Duncan said before the Yankees’ 4-3 victory last night. “I try to be interactive with people, be funny, have a good time and have a laugh."They took offense to this? Red Sox fans should take offense that one of their fans was busy getting Yankee autographs. Well done, Shelley Duncan. This was hilarious.
