Jeremy Shockey obviously didn't have the easiest year last year. His broken leg late in the season forced him onto the sidelines while the Giants went on to win the Super Bowl. This of course caused many people to wonder if Shockey had actually been a team cancer and had been holding the team down. That last sentence seems more applicable than ever now.
Yesterday Shockey hinted that he won't show up for the team's mandatory minicamp which begins on Wednesday.
"Who knows? I might go to see my mother in Texas. I have no idea," Shockey said.Shockey also decided on Saturday to stir things up as well.
"Unlike the Giants, I'm going to be quiet," he said. "They've released multiple things about myself and if you look back into the media, there's always a source. Well, I'd like to know who this source is and we'll go over here and we'll deal with it ourselves, because I haven't said one negative thing toward the Giants in the newspapers."Shockey also claimed that the Giants wouldn't let him on the field during the Super Bowl. However, he failed to explain why he didn't show up for the team's victory parade in New York, its visit to the White House, and its championship ring ceremony. Yep, guy is truly a team player.
So, to recap, Shockey's mad that he's been portrayed as being a team cancer and a me first guy who ignores his team. And to combat that terrible image he's bashing his team and threatening to sit out of a mandatory minicamp, rather than showing up, shutting up, and working hard.
Bravo Jeremy. That seems like a perfect way to win back the respect of the organization. It can't possibly fail.
Seriously Giants, what are you waiting for? Get rid of this loser.
