The Philadelphia 76ers have hired San Antonio assistant coach, Brett Brown, on a four-year deal.  Many of Brown’s confidants advised Brown not to take the Sixers job because his first year will inevitably be a tanking season.  Furthermore, there are no assurances of Brown landing another job if his time with the Sixers runs out quicker than expected.

Up and coming head coaches in the NBA usually have only one shot at making an impression in the league, and if they fail to do so, may find it hard to get another position in the head coaching office.

And with the Sixers clearly undergoing a rebuilding phase, Brown may have his work cut out for him, no matter how good of a coach he really is.
