Well, talk about a game of shuffleboard.
The Celtics, coming off an embarrassing loss, got to go play in New Jersey tonight, and started off the first quarter, looking flat. Being outscored, 22-30, they made up some ground fast, outscoring the Nets in the second period, 25-14, going into the half, ahead by 3 points. Along came the 3rd quarter, the Nets shot out, retook the lead, and had Boston down, by 5.....setting up for a 4th quarter run and gun series.
Then, the game turned ugly. The Nets, suddenly, couldn't hit the broadside of a barn, or to that matter, find the rim. Scoring a total of 9 points, including a late 3 by Kidd, but by then, it was all over, the final score, Celtics 86 Nets 77. To give you an idea, how long it's been since the Celtics have been this strong....59-60 Celtics were 30-4....and went on to win the Title that year.
Another gauge, on how well this is ticking, is this little nugget: The Celtics Title, in 59-60....was their 3rd. Just a few years ago.
Of course, they only have 16 Championships.....ya.
Let it sink in.
