It's rare for me to care much about the football in the off-season, but a couple of nuggets reminded me that the NFL is alive and well, even in April:
-Is Bret Favre really retired? I'm seeing a lot stuff pop up and it's really hard to say at this point what's true and what's speculation. I guess the one thing I tend to hate about athletes is their constant waffling over retirement. Stay, go-I don't care; just make a decision and stick by it. Frankly, if I were the Green Bay fans, I'd be pissed off big time.
If he's coming back, what does this do for Matt Linart, especially in light of the following, courtesy of Deadspin: http://deadspin.com/376333/matt-leinart-is-just-asking-for-it-now
Amusingly funny, but how much damage does this do to Lineart?
-Also continuing, in the world of college football, is the epic Rich Rodriguez situation. He's claiming he was frauduantly induced into signing his contract extention when he was still at West Virginia. Here's more: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3327364
Rodriguez is a fraud and a size XXXL jackass. Here's hoping he loses his case. Better yet, here's hoping he spends all of his energy on this case, rather than helping Michigan become a football power again.
-I saw that Mike Vick is playing football in prison. Check this out: http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/04/06/mike-vick-is-paul-crewe/
Wonder if Mike and his center have something going....
The NFL draft is coming up soon. Here's hoping for a couple of things: The Bears actually draft someone they need ( a WR or a offensive lineman, maybe even a QB) and that Dan Connor from Penn State goes pretty high. I don't think we are even close to seeing the best from him
-Here's something I caught after posting: big trouble with Brian Urlacher??: http://fantasysportsmatrix.com/buzz/unhappy-urlacher-skip-bears-1st-voluntary-workout#
Enough football for now. I'll return to other stuff later....
