Last night, the Nascar Hall Of Fame announced on the Speed channel it's first set of 25 nominees. Featured among the list are drivers, owners and Nascar Executives. To be eligible, former drivers must have competed 10 years in NASCAR and be retired from racing for a minimum of three years. Non-drivers must have worked at least 10 years in the industry. (Potential candidates with shorter careers may be considered if there are special circumstances.) The HOF’s first inductees will be determined by the Voting Panel, which has 50 members – the entire Nominating Committee, 14 media members, four manufacturer representatives, nine retired competitors (drivers, owners, crew chiefs – three each) and two recognized industry leaders. the 51st ballot will be a fan vote. I only have a major problem with one person who was nominated, and I am disappointed that Smokey Yunick and Red Vogt are not included. I don’t know that I would delete anybody to get these guys in, but in my humble opinion, they should put in the guys who started all of this to begin with. I also would like to see them remove the guys who are still active in the sport, like Richard Childress and Rick Hendrick. Not because they are not deserving but all other major sports wait until they are retired until they are eligible.

2	and if I had a vote, and no disrespect to any of the greats my 5 vote ticket would go like this. William "Big Bill" H.G.France, Raymond Parks, Red Byron, Louis "Red" Vogt, and Roy Hall. My next choice would be Henry "Smokey" Yunick. But hey, that is just my opinion.

4	I do not envy anyone who takes on the task of a NASCAR Hall of Fame. The choices are more than 25 and each one deserves it. Good luck and remember that you will not please everyone.

I agree with all the nominees. I am thinking of voting the pioneers first and going from there. Sure, heart wise, I like Petty and Pearson and all but I feel that ones like Red Byron and ones that were there first should get the first nod.

The only one I have totally made up my mind to vote in is the France family. To me, without their business moves, there would not be a Nascar. And to think that Bill Jr took over for a while and he had some major milestones like MRN being formed, sport going national and all the races televised. Brian France runs now and it still grows. Nascar forever.
