Spotlight Fan of the Week - Anthonyg7575
A weekly conversation with FanIQ's greatest asset - You! This week we get to know another one of our veteran Q'ers who kicks tail in polls, contributes some great content, and entertains us often with his witty comments. FanIQ presents to you...Anthony (Anthonyg7575)

Name: Anthony - expecting something different?
Age: 32 years old, birthday on July 5. (that leaves a little less than 3 months to get presents ready, gift cards are perfectly acceptable.)
Job: I've been working at Progressive for a little over 4 years as a sales and service agent.
Favorite Teams: Miami Dolphins, Florida Marlins, Miami Heat, Miami Hurricanes, and the New York Yankees (my dad grew up 2 blocks from Yankee Stadium as a kid, so that's all I heard about when I was younger....). I've also grown a pretty good liking to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the South Florida Bulls since I have moved to the Tampa Area. Tony Stewart is alson my favorite NASCAR driver.
Least Favorite Teams: probably the Washington Redskins (They beat the Dolphins in the first football game I ever watched...Super Bowl XVII), the Cardinals and Pirates (not sure why), and the Pistons.
Favorite Sports to Watch on TV: College football, any of the golf majors, baseball, and NASCAR.
Favorite Expert: I don't really have a favorite expert, but if I were to pick one, and this is going back to my younger days, would be Peter Gammons.
Favorite Movie: My Favorite Movie is tough, but if I were told that I could only watch one movie for the rest of my life, it would have to be Caddyshack.
Favorite TV Show: I watch very little TV. If I am watching it's either sports or shows like, Prison Break, 24, Family Guy, My Name is Earl, and South Park. I do like to watch re-runs of old shows like Married with Children, Three's Company, and Soap.

Personal:
People call you “Skinny” – is it as obvious as it sounds or is there a fun story behind it?
Well, there was a guy that I worked with back in like 1996 that started calling me "Flaco" (I worked in Miami, and everyone there was of Cuban decent, and for those of you that don't know flaco is Spanish for thin or skinny), the name stuck, but everyone just started calling me skinny. Out of the whole group of us that hung out, I was by far the smallest. I was probably averaged about 120 back then. Now I'm pushing 160, but I'm still known as "Skinny".

You have listed as your dream job Sports Agent – do you remember when you decided that would be something you might like to do?

When A-Rod signed his first contract of $252 million, I was thinking 10% is $25.2 mil....sign me up.

Is it something you are working toward?

No, while it would be nice to do. Going to law school at this point in my life is not really one of my options. Maybe a few years down the road when my G/F gets out of Pharmacy school, that may give me time to go to school full time.

Where would we find you spending a day playing hooky from work?

The golf course. Almost 100% of the time too. The first thing I do when I decide that I'm not going to work is start searching for a tee time.

If you had one day that you could go back and relive from your youth what day would that be?

To tell my mom that I loved her before she passed away.

You’re a video gamer – which system do you like best and why that one over others?

I've always been partial to Sony. I have an Xbox 360 that I play the majority of the time because all my friends are on Live. I also have a Wii and I still play my PS2 every once in a while as well. I still haven't ruled out a PS3 yet either.

Sports:
Your Dolphins had a torturous season last year. How do you feel about the decision to bring in Parcells as VP of operations?
Bad year...but they lost 6 games by 3 points. I think it's a great move, I'm still debating on what should be done with the 1st round pick. They really need some help at QB. I think you have to start there.

I see on your profile that you’ve played baseball at a semi-pro level…what was that like?
It was pretty cool. We actually played at Ft. Lauderdale Stadium where the Baltimore Orioles have their spring training. It was nothing big, there was a few guys that came down and played in the MLB off season like Doug Jennings, Rafael Belliard (they were actually out of the majors already) and Curtis Pride...as you can see it was nothing big, but it's cool to say that I have played with some former Major Leaguers.

You seem to be big into golf – describe for us, if you can remember one in particular, your favorite day on a course:
Probably Easter of 2002, I played a round with my dad and shot 89. Which still stands today as my career low. I have also shot 90 and 91.

Do you have any of your own sports superstitions/rituals for your pro-teams?
I don't have anything for pro sports.

What about when you played? If so, what were they?

When I played, I would never step on the first or third base line and if I was playing centerfield, when the inning was over I would always step on 2nd when coming in.

Who was your favorite athlete growing up?
Don Mattingly

We all have that moment as a kid, usually the first thing we remember that turns us into sports fans. What was yours?

My dad taking me out to the park and playing baseball with me. Growing up listening to him talk about the Yankees. It was kind of ironic that my first baseball bat was inscribed with Jim Rice on it.

If you had your choice to attend any sporting event that you haven’t already, anywhere, what would it be?

I know this is kinda crazy, because everyone usually picks either the Super Bowl or some sort of championship type game, but I really want to attend at least one Masters before I die.

Just for fun let's say you could be the GM of any team and make one transaction (trade, add/drop, etc) ... who would you be and what move would you make?
For sure it would be the Marlins and I would have gone after Johan Santana. That's a pitchers park.

You’ve met quite a few professional athletes; which was your best or most memorable experience?

I would have to say back in 2001. I was at the Honda Classic when it was still played at the TPC at Heron Bay. I was following Phil Mickelson and I started talking to this lady on 16 that turned out to be his wife. I stuck with her for the last 2 holes and after he had finished his round, she asked him if he would take a picture with me and he did.

FanIQ:
How did you find FanIQ?
Somehow I was recruited by Chuck23, I may have clicked on a link in some sports board or something. I don't remember, but I'm obviously glad I did!

What is your favorite feature on the site? (Blog, polls, trivia, quizzes, etc.)
Every feature is my favorite feature.

What’s the most bizarre Locker Room poll you’ve ever seen?

Probably when someone tries to be slick and they create a pseudo "Thong" poll, but put something in like some overweight guy in a tiny Speedo. Blinding.

What’s your favorite poll that you, yourself, created?

Probably the one I did recently about what there is to do in Indianapolis. I got some good ideas, thanks guys (and gals).

Have you made any good friends on the Q?
I've already known Randy (kappa) and Donnie (dlay), I haven't really met anyone else except Mark (marktheshark) once. I would love to meet a few of my NASCAR friends (John, Terri, Brian, Helen, Kory, and Angie) and of course you Jess, Nellie, and Ty...there are others but I could be here all day though, I got stuff to do today. This is why we need some sort of gathering....

Random:
If you had to choose five CD’s to listen to for the rest of your life, which five would you choose?
Oh dang....Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, Metallica's ...and Justice for All, Billy Joel's Greatest Hits, Tupac's Greatest Hits, and Guns 'n Roses Greatest hits.

You get to take 3 people in the sports world out to dinner at your favorite restaurant. Who are they, and where are you going?
Danica Patrick, Maria Sharapova, and Natalie Gulbis....hey, no guys are coming on this date. We would probably go to Burns Steakhouse.

You find a Genie’s lamp and are granted three wishes; what are they?
Bring my mom back, 1 year of A-Rod's salary, and Tiger Woods' ability to play golf.

What’s the boldest prediction you’ve ever made? Did it turn out?
Probably picking the Dolphins winning at New England on 12/23, Pats won 28-7, at least they shut down their offense.....

Speaking of bold predictions, how will your Marlins do this year?
Well, I like the way they have started out currently sitting atop the NL East 1.5 games ahead of the Mets and the 3rd best record in the Majors (As of Saturday 4/12), but I think they will end up finishing right around .500 in 4th...

Thank you so much for taking time to give us a little more insight Anthonyg7575! It's been a pleasure...and I agree about the gathering!

That's just from 1 player.....imagine how much more he brings in with his other clients. Zito, Beltran, Manny Ramirez, etc....

I don't trust this "skinny" guy. Who is he really???

You, me and Del Masters '09 or '10. If we can pull off tickets for next year it would be my pre-wedding road trip.

Keep that thought....I'm waiting to see (obviously it's a bit too early yet) but for next year, my friend's neighbor is a sports writer for the Tampa Tribune and he is good friends with a gut that writes all the golf columns for the Augusta News. I may be able to score tickets....
