The San Antonio Spurs have inexplicably waived Stephen Jackson Friday afternoon from their fifteen man roster. This late in the season, it is extremely odd that a championship contending team would waive a player that was a major piece in their bench rotation. However, sources say that the veteran forward was disrupting the chemistry on the team as he voiced his displeasure with the way that Gregg Popovich was using him.
Unfortunately for Captain Jack, any player released after March 1st is ineligible for the playoffs and with only 4-5 games left in the season, this means that Jackson’s season is effectively over.
The San Antonio Spurs are pretty hush-hush about what happens behind the scenes, so it is highly unlikely that the real reason for Jackson’s exit will be revealed. But whatever the reason was, it must have been pretty serious for the polarizing Jackson to have landed on Pop's bad side.
