Spurs face shock 1-0 defeat at the hands of Fulham
Tottenham Hotspur handed in an abysmal performance against Fulham, who managed to grab a shock 1-0 defeat at White Hart Lane on Sunday night. Tottenham Hotspur were poor in their build-up and passes throughout the ninety minutes of the game. Emmanuel Adebayor, Jermain Defoe and Gareth Bale were unable to upset Fulham’s defense until the dying stages of the game.
Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer passed the test of keeping a clean-sheet against Tottenham Hotspur, who have been in a rut as of late. For the first time since taking over White Hart Lane, Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has lost three games in a row.
Tottenham Hotspur managed to pick up more than two points in every game since the beginning of December last year. Moreover, Tottenham Hotspur can be classified as the second best team in the Premier League since December. Andre Villas-Boas his team will have to work hard to attain their lost form.
Andre Villas-Boas claims the 120-minute grueling battle against Inter Milan, which resulted in a 4-1 defeat, has nothing to do with the embarrassing defeat to Fulham.
“It was nothing to do with the players today,” Andre Villas-Boas said. “The effort and commitment were there. Probably the organisation wasn't, and it is down to us to get to business and correct that.”
Arsenal are now just four points behind Arsenal, who with a match in hand, are now breathing down Tottenham Hotspur’s neck for the fourth spot on the Premier League table. Andre Villas-Boas admits Tottenham Hotspur’s form has been under-par in recent weeks due to lack of confidence.
“You can't hide from what has happened in the past with Spurs,” Andre Villas-Boas said. “You just have to make sure that we are able to fight against it. It has been difficult month for us.
“If we are able to find our form or confidence and win then we can end that cycle that Spurs normally have. We just have to work hard.”
