While that's a huge win for Stanford, it actually helps other teams more than it helps the Cardinal, thanks to their earlier loss to Utah.

Florida State is breathing a sigh of relief, as the Oregon loss cements their status as the #2 team in the country. If Oregon had gone into Stanford and won, they might have been able to leapfrog the Seminoles into the all-important 2nd spot, putting them in the driver's seat for a BCS championship berth.

Still, because of their earlier loss to unranked Utah, Stanford needs a lot of help in order to take their rightful place near the top of the rankings.

A goal line stand by the Utes may be the deciding factor that prevents Stanford from playing for the BCS championship. As great as this win was, it really shows that the Utah win was inexcusable. We'll see if they can overcome it and sneak into the championship game.
