Stanley Cup Finals Game 6 Live Thread
Can The Wings Do It Again or Will the Pens Force Game 7? [Stanley Cup Finals Live Thread]

Despite tying the series after 4 games, the Penguins find themselves in the exact same spot they were a year ago, facing the end of their season on home ice.  However, the difference between last year and this year in this series is that the home team has won every game so far.  Detroit will try to win Lord Stanley's cup tonight while the Pens will be doing everything in their power to send the series back to Detroit for game 7 Friday night.

Both teams know what's at stake, both teams will be giving it their all, and this game should be awesome.

Detroit Red Wings @ Pittsburgh Penguins: Stanley Cup Finals Game 6 - 8:00 PM ET on NBC & CBC

Come join in and talk (or vent) about tonight's game.

Still blaming the officials for the Pens losing are you.? Are these guys going to let the Pens get 7 skaters out their this time.? Excuses for the refs.? The Pens are the team spearing goalies, cross checking ,and slashing players when things are falling apart.
Game 6, for the Cup...no excuses.

Yea its the refs fault, c'mon man there can be no doubt that the fact that when they are losing they act like children and try to injure there opponents. There can be no doubt that if Malkin had been suspend for game 3 that we would have won this series already! Enough with the crying ref bull shit! Its old leave it be holy hell!

Err I don't know wtf happened lol but I was quoting WordSmith not GoBigBlue lol so whatever Go Wings!

The officiating had NOTHING to do with the outcome of Game 5. The Pens deserved all of the penalties they got, and then some, for acting like a bunch of children and showing no class when the game was over; they let the game get out of hand when it was 3-0, not the refs. The officiating this series has been pretty good, great by the standards for the officiating these past four seasons.

The Pens are going to win tonight and win the cup in detroit. Detroit doesn't deserve it.

can we win it? yes. will we? i hope so, but, we are on the road, they are playing for their lives (again), and remember we won the cup in the mellon arena last year. that being said, we are too good, we will win it again tonight. 5 of 12 and the first team to repeat since.....we did it in '97 and 98.

What a bad call. The league needs to get their s**t straight about these goalie interference calls when the guy is pushed in

I don't know what the ref thought he saw?

Fleury definetely has to work on his play behind the net and his stick-handling, haha

It was the neutral zone ref, so he had no buinsness making that call

Crying? I have no stake in this game. That's a terrible call, and it's been going on for the past few years.

And no, you are not right about the officiating crew because you insinuated that the officiating drastically affected Game 5. There has been one bad call so far this game.

Bias. Right.

Your problem is that you only look at the penalties called against the Penguins or your idea of the missed calls against the other team. Which is slightly understandable because you want your team to win. But you still fail to realize that despite my dislike for the Pens, I'm looking at this from an almost entire neutral perspective.

Stopped calling penalties on the Wings and only called them on the Penguins? I guess, if you don't think slashing a guy in a foot he has had problems with, elbows to the head, and late hits aren't penalties, and equal pushing and shoving are.

But enough about that. This is about the game on hand, Game 6.

Very good period.
Overall play much closer than the 12-3 shot differential would indicate.

Two players who have been surprisingly invisible so far: Hossa and Crosby

Quit turning everything I say into an attack against Crosby or the Pens. He hasn't done anything good so far. That's it. I picked two of the stars playing tonight that are supposed to be noticeable and have not been.

You really are starting to piss me off, let me have my own g**damn opinion.

I'm stunned that way more people are watching the basketball.  How can this not beat hoops?

The ESPN factor. God I hate them.

Nah, cross-check. Really good game by Malkin up until that penalty.

Also, the call on that penalty happened way sooner than Eddie O and the NBC crew was making it out to be.

A few years ago I realized that I pretty much almost never watch ESPN anymore.  It's funny.  I used to watch them quite a bit.  I would catch the 4:00 Sportscenter.  Their little opinion shows.  I used to watch the occasional out of market baseball game and the NHL when they had it.

But I kind of got tired of their own arrogance   Their constant pandering to the Yankees and Red Sox.  Then they dumped the NHL.  For some reason I stopped watching the baseball games.  I even missed the last few times the Giants were on the Sunday game.  And recently I realized that I don't even know what channel on the satellite ESPN is even on!  It's almost like I forgot ESPN even still existed.

Word.

I still watch them just because they are really the only place to get a wide variety of sports news on TV, and I like some of their guys and shows, like PTI. But they truly are a joke that manipulates the common, casual fan.

But enough about that crapfest, there's an exciting hockey game to watch!

Terrible giveaway by Orpik. Great pass by Datsyuk. Not a great move by Cleary.

Fluery read that all the way.

The only problem is that no team has won a road game so far.  Detroit is extremely hard to beat at the Joe.

My 61 inch LED DLP won't fit in my computer room, sorry for being so quiet.

Rob Scuderi is RIDICULOUS.

Marian Hossa has no heart.

No we're still here. Congrats on winning game 6. See you in DETROIT for Game 7.

Tough game, Pens just looked better tonight.  Credit to Osgood keeping them in the game.  The home team has been better all 6 games, we'll see that if that stays the case on Friday.

Every game in these playoffs I see Hossa touch the puck and he's either giving a half-assed effort or he's trying to get too cute with the puck when he should be passing.  He's got good speed and can handle the puck most of the time but it wouldn't kill the guy to PASS once in a while.

I feel sorry for all of you who don't have NHL ticket. Get direct TV and you wont ever miss another game!!!
As for the bad penalties, or bad calls, and everyone whinning. HOLY CRAP, this is hockey not basketball. These guys play with broken bones, and stitches and blood dripping everywhere if they have to. They want to win the STANLEY CUP! Please, its a rough game! Stop your bitchin'.  For Game 7, I hope the ref's just put the whistles away and let them play. May the best team win!   GO WINGS!!!!

I certainly don't want the game 7 refs to swallow their whistles.  The game will turn into a free for all.  No whistles means the players are free to cheat.  You don't want the ultimate moment of your game's premier event be sullied by grabbing, tripping, cheap shots and fisticuffs.

Refs....  Call 'em like you see 'em.

Agreed.

Call the trips and hooks that affect the play, but most importantly, stay consistent.
On the other side, don't call what SHOULDN'T be called, like the "goalie interference" call made last game
