So it begins; the series of utmost importance to hockey fans around the world. Well...North America at least. The Stanley Cup Finals. This year's final matchup comes as no surprise to most of us who paid much attention to the NHL throughout the season. Two heavyweights make a run for it to the brutal end. Do experience and tenacity overcome youth and strength this year, or will Crosby be the first 20-year-old captain to hoist the cup?

Game one usually seems to set the tone for the series - how strong the teams come out gives us some indication of how well they'll play. Whether they win or lose Game One doesn't necessarily matter - as any hockey fan will tell you, it's how they look.

1	Yea I didn't see the interference but I wasn't watching too close so I wasn't sure if it was just the announcers complaining and I was blind or if it really was a crap call.

1	LETS GO WINGS!!!! should be 3-0 right now, that call against holmstrom was GARBAGE...NHL doing anything they can to hand crosby and the pens a cup. but it won't happen because the wings are just too damn good

I like Doc.

It will be the same crew when NBC takes over for game 3 on.
And for some weird reason, VS does a much better job than NBC does.

It's the guys who call the game after the #1 crew that I don't like.

0	i have no problem with Doc, other than his voice cracks and the fact that he announces for the devils... i just have a problem with the guys that "analyze" between periods- keith jones and brian "mullethead" englom and the other guy i like NBC better when they have bill clement, ray ferraro, brett hull, and whoever else

0	NBC was better last year. This year, they severely cut back on the on air talent. The studio is bare bones. And it just looks like NBC's heart just isn't in broadcasting the games. After this season, I'd rather the NHL just stick with VS. Unfortunately, the NHL needs NBC a whole lot more than NBC needs the NHL.

I also thought Bill Clement was wasted as a studio host. He was really good as a color guy. Remember when he and Doc worked the games on ESPN?

0	Wings were solid. I sure didn't expect the Pens to be so... lethargic? I don't think that is the right word. But it is all I can come up with right now.

I do not know why everyone rags on VS. Emerick is about as good as it gets with on air talent. And he worked for ESPN as well. The only thing that ESPN had on VS was the talent AFTER Emerick. Apart from that, VS devotes more air time to hockey than ESPN EVER did. And at ESPN, the NHL would get lost amongst all the other stuff that ESPN does. It's the best that VS has so they treat it as their #1 commodity.

I have had the privilege on a couple of occasions to watch Hockey Night in Canada. And yes, they have all the American TV coverage beat by miles. Why can't NBC send some people to the CBC and learn all they can from them?

1	The Cherry thing was a one time thing. They may bring him by for one segment during the Finals. I don't know. But having Cherry in between periods once won't change the coverage.

0	CBC isnt in HD so I just go with VersusHD. The sound is way better though on CBC and I love the disapointment when the Red Wings win because of all the Canadian resentment towards all the Wings Europeon players.
