Starting tomorrow is the FanIQ debut of the MrNFL's "Flawed prediction system." Now you are likely asking, "what the heck are you talking about?" I'll explain.
Last year, I graded each team at different positions. Then, I took the scores, put them to the schedule, and got predictions for each teams record. Well last year had some highlights and lowlights. The predictions correctly called the Panthers at 8-8, a team whom everyone had in the Super Bowl. They also had the Eagles winning the division, which everyone believed they'd be at the bottom of. Of course, there was some bad, including the Jets and Saints being picked to be footballs' worst two teams. (And they made the playoffs...)
I've modified it, and I am ready to predict them. But FanIQ will also get a chance to see your own predictions, as the FanIQ consensus numbers will also be calculated based on your rankings. Here's how the system works.
You rank each category with a score between 1-10. 10 goes to the team that is absolutely set in that category. 1 goes to a team that might as well have you and me at that spot.
There are 7 main categories to grade on. They are:
- Quarterbacks and Wide Receivers
- Running backs/Fullbacks/Tight ends
- Offensive line
- Defensive line
- Linebacker group
- Secondary
- Special teams (kickers/punters and return threats)
Then you also grade on the coaches, which gets a 1-5 based on how good you believe the coach is.
Once all of these numbers are entered, they will be put to the schedule, as I'll go game by game. Who wins a game is based on this...
- QB/WR score vs DB score
- RB/FB score vs LB score
- OL score vs DL score
- ST vs ST
- Coach vs Coach
- 5 extra points to the home team of the given matchup
The team with the highest total ends up winning that game in the schedule. After each game has been figured out, we will have the predictions for each teams record, as well as who will play in the Super Bowl.
The first installment starts tomorrow with the NFC North and the Lions. You'll have my breakdown of each category for the team, and also have an open poll for your own score. By the end of the series, we'll have FanIQ's predictions for where each team will finish, based on your rankings.
(Also, anyone who answers every single poll who wants me to figure out what the predictions are by your own personal rankings, just tell me and I'll figure it out.)
