FanIQ | Sports Rumors, Gossip, Blogs, News & Discussion ForumsColorado Avalanches head coach Patrick Roy informed on Thursday that their center Pasful Stastny was still under evaluation for the back injury he had sustained and was for now on a day to day. Nevertheless, chances of him skating on the ice versus the Anaheim Ducks on Friday is highly unlikely.

Last Saturday the Avalanches played the Saint Louis Blues and Stastny was quick do get injured, getting his back done for in the first minute of the match. Since then he has been out for 2 more games. With him gone, Roy had to rely on other players to step it up and cover his position. The injury isn’t of serious nature but neither is it so minor that he will have recovered by Friday to play the Ducks.

Roy said that if Stastny made it there it would be one big miracle. He said that the team really needed him to get healthy as soon as possible but they were not going to rush a half healed player back on the ice.

"I would be very surprised. The way the team is playing there is no need to rush him. It's not that we have to push on him right now,” Roy said. “I think it gives him a chance to comeback 100 percent. Just want to make sure that his back is perfect when he comes back and no setbacks after that."

Stastny was a team favourite and the fans simply loved him. Now that he is injured, every player, Avalanches franchise member and fan is looking at him to make a comeback. There was a visible difference in the quality of game after Stastny left as the Avalanches could not keep the fight going and ended up losing the match 2-1.

Roy said that the team needed to play better and to do that they would have to start thinking how  to play like  a team.

"I think we need to be smart, and the way everybody is playing certainly allows us to take our time," Roy said. "We don’t feel the pressure to push on him as well. I think it’s a perfect situation right now for us."
