Over the past couple of seasons Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Mike Wallace has exploded on the scene and become a key part to the Steelers' offense. Now Wallace wants to get paid, and get paid long term. The Steelers extended a restricted free agent tender to Wallace, which if he signs will net him $2.7 million for one year. Wallace feels like he deserves more, and is willing to hold out until he gets it.
Apparently the Steelers are willing to play hardball:
According to Bouchette, the Steelers are willing to let Wallace make the decision of whether he’ll sign his one-year, $2.7 million restricted free agent tender or stay away. If those are his two choices, Wallace will surely take option B, at least for now. Wallace only has to sign the tender by Week One to get his full base salary.
Not having Wallace will hurt the Steelers (and my fantasy keeper team), so one would believe that a deal will get done.
