Stephen Strasburg suffers after getting Hot Stuff in a sensitive area
MLB, Roger Clemens, Stephen Strasburg, Washington Nationals

Strasburg emulates half of Clemens' pregame ritual, but forgets the 'roids

May 10, 2012; Pittsburgh, PA, USA; Washington Nationals starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg (37) pitches against the Pittsburgh Pirates during the sixth inning at PNC Park. The Washington Nationals won 4-2. Mandatory Credit: Charles LeClaire-US PRESSWIREOne thing that we learned in Joe Torre's book was that Roger Clemens used to rub Icy Hot on his testicles before he pitched. My good friend Chuck believes it was to give him that angry, pissed off demeanor on the mound, and I'm inclined to agree.

Stephen Strasburg tried the same thing last night, and was less successful. It might have been because he didn't do it intentionally, or it may have been because he forgot his daily mix of pharmaceutical goodness.

Without the steroids, the Icy Hot ball rub just doesn't do the trick, apparently, since Strasburg got his first loss of the season.

Nationals manager Davey Johnson revealed the source of Strasburg's mound discomfort, which may have contributed to the loss.

When asked how it got there, Strasburg declined to answer, but insinuated it may have been a prank pulled by one of his teammates.

Well... that'll teach 'em.

WE can forget about the RIDS for Clemens, he was found not guilty, in making false statements, which he said over and over he did not take them.

Still with that, hopefully he stays away from the Icy Hot, he pitched better without it.
