It's one thing to criticize ESPN's coverage of dogfighting, quite another to suggest that a) dogfighting is just like deer hunting and b) because dogfighting is "behind closed doors" and a "sport" that makes it legal. Someone finally gave Stephon Marbury this message, so he retreated on a fast break like he did often this year at Madison Square Garden. "[Vick] is 100 percent wrong."Ok, so he only sort of backtracked, but at least he gave it an effort and didn't sound completely dumb in this latest interview. I believe that may be a first for Stephon this summer.
"I don't like it at all, I don't think [Vick's] right. But this dude is trying to ask for forgiveness ... The way the way it's going about in the newspapers and TV, it's ridiculous."
"I never said dogfighting was a sport," he insisted today. "I said 'From what I hear, dogfighting was a sport.' They're editing me on TV."
