Rebilas-US PRESSWIREWe've all known that Steve Nash was going to be a Laker since the news broke on the Fourth of July, but today it became official. The veteran NBA player proudly held up his new number 10 jersey, alongside general manager Mitch Kupchak.

Nash said of his new jersey:

"Being here right now is something I never foresaw. That (jersey) was a major hurdle for me just to get over visually as a player."

Usually he wears the number 13, but since that number was Wilt Chamberlain's, Nash decided to go with number 10. According to Royce Young of CBSSports.com, Nash joins Trey Johnson, Vladimir Radmanovic, Lindsey Hunter, Tyronn Lue, Larry Drew, Norm Nixon and Corky Calhoun in the list of Lakers who have worn the double digit, which means he may very well be the best number 10 in Lakers history already.

While everyone has known this day was coming for over a week, seeing him up there, smiling with Kupchak made it all the more real. It was a beautiful thing to see, especially with the Lakers on the brink of bringing Dwight Howard to the team.
