FanIQ | Sports Rumors, Gossip, Blogs, News & Discussion ForumsOn Sunday, Los Angeles Lakers guard Steve Nash had to step out of the game. Even so, chances are good that on Tuesday’s match he will be at the court to play. Nash just hit the 40 year mark this month and injuries are getting to be a bother. The majority of this season has been spent on the sidelines due to one injury after the other and rumors are he is contemplating the decision to retire from the game in the near future.

For now he is with the Lakers and will be for another year as the contract goes, with $9.7 million still to go with that year. But Nash has denied he is looking at the fact of retirement and said for now he was focused on the game entirely.

"Right now I have no intentions to stop playing," he said.

Nash has an average of 5.0 assists and 8.2 points. This is due to the fact that he has been active in only 9 games and for the rest has been sidelined due to injuries that keep bothering him. Specifically, it is his back and legs that have been troubling him .

February 4 marked his return to the game but on Sunday he had to be sidelined again following a leg injury. This time it seems he is fortunate as the injury didn’t seem to be serious and chances are he will not be sitting out and wasting time.

For three months Nash had to sit out the games as he sustained a nerve injury in his back. Nash said he really missed playing basketball during all that time but moreover, he missed being with his buddies and playing by their side. Nash said before he would retire after the contract he wanted to enjoy every moment that he had with his team so he could relive it in memory.
