One year ago tonight I was writing about how we were on verge of one of the most influential games in bowl history. I'll echo that sentiment again.
Boise State proved a talented "mid-major" can play with the big boys and when undefeated, deserves serious consideration for the BCS Championship game. Now the question tonight is whether Hawaii is actually that good. Their best win is over Washington or Boise State. The former finished last in the Pac-10. The latter just got beat by an OK at best East Carolina team. The Warriors also struggled to beat powerhouses like San Jose State, Louisiana Tech and Nevada.
Colt Brennan's offense is explosive, no doubt, but they haven't played anyone in the same stratosphere of this Georgia team since USC paid a visit to Honolulu a few years back. My opinion is that Hawaii is a bit of a fraud this year, but that's why they play the games. There's no doubt June Jones will orchestrate some points tonight. Georgia should be able to control the ball with Sugar Bowl record numbers on the ground. BUT ... if we're in for another shocker tonight, Hawaii could forever change how undefeated lesser football powers are considered for the BCS Championship Game. Can't wait for this one to start ...
