It's going to be hard for tonight's Sugar Bowl to top the drama of yesterday's bowl games, but as we learned watching the Fiesta Bowl last night--you never know.
Tonight the two least-deserving BCS teams--No. 11 Virginia Tech and No. 13 Michigan--square off in the Sugar Bowl. Yes, both teams were at-large selections, and yes there were more deserving teams that got relegated to lesser bowls so the Sugar Bowl could pit two classic programs against one another. Or make more money. Actually, just make more money. But enough about that, let's talk football.
Michigan is enjoying a surprisingly successful season (10-2) in it's first year under coach Brady Hoke. Virginia Tech is 11-2, though it's too losses were both blowouts and both at the hands of Clemson.
The game also features two of the nations best runners--Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson and Virginia Tech running back David Wilson. Wilson ran for 1627 yards and nine touchdowns, while Robinson rushed for 1163 and 16 touchdowns, as well as 2056 passing yards and 18 touchdowns.
Like yesterday's two BCS bowls, this too could be a high-scoring affair.
This game also sets up to two conferences that desperately need big wins against one another. The ACC is 2-11 all time in BCS games, and Virginia Tech got smoked in last year's Orange Bowl. The Big Ten, on the other hand, as been getting whooped on this bowl season, including going 1-4 yesterday alone.
Here is your game information:
No. 11 Virginia Tech vs. No. 13 Michigan, 8:30 p.m. ET, ESPN.

Enjoy, fans.

This proved to be their undoing, imo. Shoulda played to win, not to tie.

Virginia Tech gets ultra conservative and plays for the tie. Game headed to overtime tied at 20

They have them in every other division and in every other sport. Bring on a playoff system.

I'm tired of everyone pissing an moaning about these two schools not deserving to be there! It's not their fault the BCS is a crock of s**t and there should be a playoff instead. They are just playing the cards they're dealt!

Sweet backwards run by David Wilson there. And by "sweet," I mean absolutely atrocious.

Michigan is back in a big time bowl game. This should be a great game, and I'm looking forward to a great big Maize & Blue win. Geaux Blue! in the Big Easy.
