Will the Upsets Continue? [Sunday All-Day March Madness Thread]

Once again, the Friday/Sunday group of NCAA Tournament games is left to try and be half as exciting as Thursday/Saturday's group was. Yesterday saw #3 seed New Mexico, #2 seed Villanova, and, most shocking of all, top overall seed Kansas go down.

Today's big Cinderella hope is Cornell, who really don't feel like a Cinderella after they soundly beat Temple on Friday. Today they take on #4 seed Wisconsin. Also in action are two more top seeded teams, Syracuse and Duke, who will try to avoid Kansas's fate (I suspect we will have many Cal fans today). Pitt and West Virginia also join Syracuse is trying to retain what's left of the Big East's honor. Finally, we of course have Gus Johnson, who has to get a close game at some point, right?

Today's schedule (tip-off times are approximate, Gus Johnson games are indicated with a *):

12:10- (8) Gonzaga vs. (1) Syracuse*

2:20- (10) Georgia Tech vs. (2) Ohio State
2:30- (5) Michigan State vs. (4) Maryland
2:40- (10) Missouri vs. (2) West Virginia*
2:50- (12) Cornell vs. (4) Wisconsin

4:50- (6) Xavier vs. (3) Pittsburgh
5:00- (5) Texas A&M vs. (4) Purdue
5:15- (8) California vs. (1) Duke

Q it up here with the day's action.

Purdue vs TAMU was exciting, if not exactly technically perfect.

Thankfully, I was prepared for that loss.  Cornell is a freaking offensive machine.

That final possession in the Purdue/A&M game is, again, why the quality of play in college basketball is light years worse than the NBA. Unbelievable awful basketball.

The picture quality is pretty good.

I've tried. My ancient computer can't handle it.

Michigan State won on a 3 point buzzer beater.

That run must've happened real quick, I remember checking the score with 4 minutes left and it had to have been still 8-10 point lead.

I did not expect the closest game of this slate to involve Ohio State. CBS still hasn't switched me from the Maryland game yet. Bastards.

It was a great ending.

Maryland came back and now leads. Due to a geographic quirk, I got that game and WVU, but was watching WVU and missed it all. D'oh.

WVU-Mizzou kind of close down the stretch. Gus so wants to get excited.

43-31 lead for Cornell, Mike is not a happy camper.

I need cornell and pitt today so my bracket is still somewhat alive

3/21/10   |   Chief_aka_James   |   3307 respect

Cornell leading Wisconsin early, Ohio State only up two, and Michigan State up comfortably.

3/21/10   |   Chief_aka_James   |   3307 respect

Tech up on OSU early. 8-2.

Yes, this is very unfortunate. Gonzaga can't buy a bucket.

The power of Gus is lacking again today, he needs an energy bar or something...19 point lead for Syracuse.
