Time For The Game Of The Week, In Which The Two Greatest QB's Of Our Generation Face Off [SNF Live Thread]

11/15/09 in NFL   |   Pat   |   5151 respect

It's not all about the quarterback, but if you're watching the game tonight, you might think otherwise, with the way the announcers will be talking about Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.

The fact is that these are two outstanding teams, with some huge playmakers on both sides of the ball. However, it's hard to ignore the fact that without a doubt, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are, by far, the greatest QB's of this decade, and possibly this entire generation. They've re-written the record books, and have 3 Super Bowl MVP awards between the two of them. No matter who you think is #1, there's no way that you can put the other any lower than #2.

Tonight's game is a big one for AFC supremacy. Right now, the Patriots have a chance to join the Bengals at 7-2, tied for 2nd place in the conference. Or, they could fall to 6-3 with a loss, and end up tied with several teams if they lose to the undefeated Colts.

If you're watching tonight (at 8:20 pm on NBC), then chat about it all night here on our live thread. 69% of FanIQ users picked the Colts to win, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Patriots pull off the upset, especially with all of the injuries in the Colts' secondary. Chat it up here, and as always, enjoy the game!

At least, I hope that you stopped reading. If not, my point sailed right over your head.

For the record, my point was that the loss is being blamed on that 4th down call by Belichick, and not giving credit to the Colts. As I said, the Colts could have scored again even if the Pats had punted. They would have still had 2 minutes.

lol my bad

I can say about 20 thing that if the Colts didn't do, they would of won by even more. What's your point. 5 wins in 6 games over the Pats, swallow it!!!!!!!

I know everyone is piling on Belichick, but....

1. If Brady's pass is a tad better, they make the first down.
2. If the ball was not juggled, they make the first down.
3. If the tackle is not made exactly how it was, they make the first down.
4. Did it look to anyone else like Brady talked Belichick into going for it?
5. Would the Colts have scored anyway, even if the Pats punted? They would have still had 2 minutes, and they had just driven 80 yards in 1:42 on the previous possession.
6. If the play had worked, all the same people who are condemning him, would be singing Belichick's praises.

I'm sure the Pats fans are in shock, and they need something or someone to blame the loss on. But, Belichick has more than proven that he is one of the greatest coaches of all time.
This was a clash of titans... probably the best two teams in the NFL... two great teams, two of the best QB's of all time, and one of the most enjoyable games in years.

I just hope this proves to be a learning experience for our younger fans... wait until the final gun sounds before you start trash-talking.

I would agree with you, if it weren't for the fact that Belichick's play calling was suspect for the entire 4th quarter. He treated the Colts like they were the Buccaneers or the Titans.

He should. That was some of the worst clock management and play-calling I have ever seen out of Belichick.

Ummm oh no  you may need something to wash those words down with. 35-34 Colts lead :13 seconds to go.

11/15/09   |   MrNFL   |   175 respect

Belichick's stupidity just likely cost them a game.  This Colts team is NEVER out of a game!
