Last week the surprisingly mighty Eagles offense finally ran into a bit of a brick wall when the Steelers came into town. But the good news was that the Eagles defense stepped it up and took care of business. We're likely to see more of the same this evening when the Eagles face the Bears in Chicago. Points will be tough to come by for both teams. Although for the Bears, that probably has more to do with Kyle Orton being at quarterback than anything else.
The tough thing for the Eagles is that it's now official, Brian Westbrook won't play due to a high ankle sprain. Which makes me pretty nervous. As great as McNabb has played so far this year, I've long thought that by far the most valuable player on the Eagles is Westbrook. It's his ability to be a multi-dimensional back that helps keep the defensive pressure off of McNabb. So now McNabb will have to spend his night passing to his mostly anonymous receivers and we'll probably see a lot of blitz packages from the Bears since Westbrook is sidelined.
And while the Bears are 1-2, don't think they're some pushover. They could easily be 3-0 or 2-1.
Right now, 82% of FanIQ is going with the Eagles. I'm not quite that confident, but I'm still going with them.
Prediction: Eagles 20, Chicago 13
