Can Dennis Dixon Keep The Steelers' Playoff Hopes Alive? [Sunday Night Football Live Thread]

11/29/09 in NFL   |   Pat   |   5234 respect

You might not want to think about this, especially if you're a Steelers fan, but the Steelers are in serious trouble this year. It's obvious that they haven't been playing well at all lately, and another loss would put them on the bubble for a playoff spot, and a full 2 games behind the Bengals in the AFC North.

So without Ben Roethlisberger, can Dennis Dixon help lead the team to a victory against the Ravens tonight? 67% of FanIQ users seem to think so, but I have no idea why.

The Ravens aren't exactly world beaters either, but the Steelers offense will be even more incompetent than usual today, with the inexperienced Dixon at the helm. If they're smart, they'll use him as a game manager, much like they've done with Roethlisberger for most of his career. We'll see if that's enough.

The game starts at 8:20 pm EST, and you can catch it on NBC. If you're watching, chat it up with us here, and as always, enjoy the game!

No worries...we squeak in with the wild card, and then, who knows what a healthy Steelers team can do?

I'm not talking about anybody on ESPN or anything.  I am talking about all the people on another poll on here saying that he sucks.  They were all hating on him before he got a chance to play.

Even though I think we can still make the playoffs, I understand what you're saying.
You can criticize your team and still be a fan, it doesn't mean you're not a real fan.

Flashback to 1988, we went 5-11; I was the number 1 critic of the Steelers but I still sat and watched every game like any other fan.

I don't really view it as negativity.  You are a passionate fan and your passion is evident in your comments when your team suffers a loss.  All fans are not as passionate as you and shouldn't convict you because of it.  You are entitled to your feelings and to express them in regards to how the team performs.  Keep it up, don't hold back, and maybe other fans will embrace your passion for what it is.

"You might not want to think about this, especially if you're a Steelers fan, but the Steelers are in serious trouble this year. It's obvious that they haven't been playing well at all lately"

" 67% of FanIQ users seem to think so, but I have no idea why."

"but the Steelers offense will be even more incompetent than usual today, with the inexperienced Dixon at the helm. If they're smart, they'll use him as a game manager, much like they've done with Roethlisberger for most of his career"

What kind of  stuff is this !?!?!
I give this whole article !!!!

Yet another negative Steeler article by the same ******** author who uses them as poorly disguised opportunities to take cheap shots at Steeler fans.

23-14 Steelers was my prediction in the pick 'ems, but I'm thinking that's a bit too big of a margin for either team.

It should be a really good game even with Ben out, both of these teams need this one, Baltimore maybe in more of a desperation mode at this point.

Baltimore wins it, 27-17.

Ray Rice probably won't have a big night, neither will Mendenhall for the Steelers.  When the Steelers and Ravens meet, the running game for both teams is often non-existent.

Dennis Dixon's Oregon team his senior year was one of my favorite college team's to ever watch.  I'd love to see him play well, but my fantasy team (in my money league) needs him to not do too well.  That and I need Ray Rice to go off.

Well Steeler fans its here like it or not, Ben's out and Dixon in for a full game, let's see if he has what it takes to lead this team. Offensive line need to give Dixon time to make plays down field, special teams are going to have to stop the returns for touchdowns, and that Steeler defense is going to have to come up with some BIG plays
