Time To Watch The Commercials, And Maybe Some Football In Between [Super Bowl Live Thread]

2/7/10 in NFL   |   Pat   |   5229 respect

The entire season has come down to 60 more minutes of football. Well... that, and a few hours of down time, perhaps some adult beverages, some excellent commercials, and a whole lot of hype.

If you're watching, this is your place to chat it up throughout the game. Talk about the game, the commercials, or even the Puppy Bowl, if that's your thing.

I'll be playing a little drinking game, so I can't promise I'll be too talkative after the 1st quarter or so. Details to come.

52% picked the Colts to win. Leave your predictions in the comments, if you'd like, and enjoy the game!

The majority of the commercials were really stupid. The only good commercial I can remember was the one with Troy Polamalu. And the halftime show just completely sucked. Roger Daltrey obviously doens't have the voice anymore and it didn't look Pete Townshend was even playing the guitar. It must suck to have this as your last big appearance that everyone will remember you for. They're obviously too old and should of stayed retired. This was by far the worst halftime performance I have ever seen. The halftime show has actually sucked pretty bad ever since the whole Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction.

from my experience, since they milk the wholeday in recent years, tey have to keep people tuned in($$$$$$)so their budget for music is probably the same,so they have to spend a good amount on pre game entertainmen than 1/2 time..they figure they already have the audience there by then(whic they do) so they bring in people that cost more forpre game.....springsteen avtually played the 1/2 time show tha tyear for a really good price cause he is a giants fan...carrie was probably the highest paid performeror received as much as the Who did....In the industry we get periodicals that tell us how artists are selling, iftey are passing through my area and if they are accepting routing date(where because theyare passing through will generally be very flexible on their price,pr an unrouted date, and it works out good, becase theyget their hotels paid for, makes some money ge to rest most the day except for show time,,get a really good meal, etc.....depending on who the hospitality coordinatoris makes a difference too...If theylike them they definitely will give a great deal,as they like the home cooking opposed to having to eat in restaurants, and feel like people opposed to a commedity...its really a complex industry....:)speakin of springsteen..his affair to that rich socialite sure got brushed under the rug fast..nd i see pattie hasnt left him....

Bruce Springsteen was really the only decent halftime act since Janet's boob fell out.  They do seem to have more recent acts for the pregame show, but the halftime shows have been snoozefests.

Regardless if it hit the Colts player or not, the first time I saw a Saints player touch the ball, it was at the 42.

Not to take anything away from Brees and the Saints, but was I the only person that has DVR and did slow motion on that onside kick that changed the whole momentum going into the second half?  I did it about 20 times or more over and over listening to the knucklehead announcers saying it hit the guys hands.  That ball never touched his hands...not even close.  The angle was tough....maybe it hit his helmet but I still did not see that from the initial angle.  That ball had backspin on it which is why it came back.  I had no vested interest in this game.  I wanted Manning to win, but I had no problem with Saints pulling it off either.  But that non call to me and the announcers saying over and over it hit the Colts hands, as well as no challenge, if it could even be challenged, just has me scratching my head.

Did anyone else see that?  Not that it matters but I am going to see that onside in my head and eventually check in to a loony bin if I don't see that anyone else in the world saw it.

Congrats to the Saints.  Brees and the Defense just made all the right adjustments in the second hald.  I was coaching from my chair for both teams and said over and over for Colts to do an out and up because the Saints started jumping patterns.  The Saints just missed one before the pick 6....just too obvious.  Manning and the Colts just were not seeing it I guess.

I also think Freeney hurting in second half gave Brees and the Saints the chance they needed to dominate their possessions

Again, great game Saints and Congratulations....just scratching my head and onside kick non call, an lack of adjustment on jumped patterns from Manning and the Colts Offensive coordinator.

What was the non call? It went 10 yards anyway, so it didn't matter if someone touched it or not.

after seeing Queen Latifa take her ear buds out during her performance, and Carrie doing a less than stellar version of the anthem, I have to wonder if there are problems with their aution monitors or the sound in the stadium itself.

On another note, so far I AM enjoying the commercials :D  well, except for the Tim Tebow one

I'd vote for poor audio knowing how good of a singer Carrie is, and besides, it's not like I was actually listening to her.
