I'll be the first person to say I hate Patriots. Why? Because they cheated to get where they are today. I'm not saying that THIS current team cheated to reach the Super Bowl undefeated, what I mean is that the Pats are partly the dynasty they are now because they cheated in the past. But this current team, man, they don't need to cheat to have an edge on anybody.
It's become trendy to think that the Giants can win this Super Bowl. Lot's of people, including my colleague CF, see some kind of spark in the Giants. I see it too. They've won ten straight road games, they won in Green Bay and Dallas, they have a great D-line, Eli is all grown up, blah, blah, blah.
That's great, but as Bill Clinton once said, "It's the economy, stupid." The same thing applies here. It's the Patriots, stupid.
You have to remember that the Patriots are undefeated. That means they've beaten everyone they've faced, in case you forgot. They've scored the most points in NFL history. They have a record setting quarterback and receiver. They have the annoyingly effective Wes Welker. They have the
And you think they're going to lose on the NFL's biggest stage to the Giants? Not a chance in hell. Even though the Giants nearly beat the Pats in Week 17, it should be noted that New England dominated that game statistically.
As much as I'd like the Giants to win, and as much as I think karma is on the Giants' side, the Patriots are just too good. Sure the Giants have the necessary ingredients to beat them: 4-man D-line that gets pressure on the opposing QB, a solid running game, and a QB currently playing out of his mind. But so did other teams this year when they faced the Patriots (including the Giants), and it didn't work because they couldn't do it for all 4 quarters. And the same thing will be true today as well.
The Patriots will win, just as they always do, because they're the best team in football. It's really that simple.
