We've all seen our fair share of rain delays in our day. They're quite commonplace, especially in some of the parks that are near a large body of water.
The Padres and Astros experienced something quite different, however... and a lot scarier, if you ask me: a bee delay.
The game was delayed for 52 minutes in the bottom of the 9th, and they even brought in a beekeeper, which the groundskeeper supposedly had on speed dial, according to Padres team president Tom Garfinkel.
They figured out what was happening when Padres left fielder Kyle Blanks just started walking in from the outfield. No one really knew why, until they saw the immense cloud of bees swarming around him. They had to clear the field, and also a few sections of stadium seating while a beekeeper corralled the bees.
Fortunately, no one was hurt. But this is definitely a scary situation, and I'm glad I wasn't there.
