Swedish Wrestler Ara Abrahamian Throws Down Bronze Medal In Protest, Quits Beijing 2008 Olympic Wrestling
Someone Forgot To Get Potty Trained
READ MORE:

Have I let you all know just how much I love these Beijing Olympic Games. There's no shortage of beautiful Olympians, thrilling finishes and record breaking performances.

However, aside from the Chinese "women's" gymnastic team, there's been a shortage of child-like behavior. That's been taken care of today, thanks to, oddly enough, men's wrestling.

Swedish wrestler Ara Abrahamian walked off the medal ceremony stage and threw down his Greco-Roman bronze medal in the middle of a wrestling mat, and stormed off. Word has it, he badly needed a change of diapers.

“I don’t care about this medal. I wanted gold. This will be my last match. I wanted to take gold, so I consider this Olympics a failure.”

Abrahamian and his coach were apparently quite upset over a semifinal match in which the Swedish team to have been decided by "politics." In China? No Way!

MSNBC apparently didn't show the "highlight," but luckily some random station did. Here's the footage below, while it lasts.

I'd give his medal to the person who finished 4th.

Nice! A Grown A*S Man acting like my 8 year old when she did not get a home run in her softball tournament. Okay, not even she would have thrown down her medal and walked off the field!

What class!

Well, it seems you haven't understood what it's all about. It's about corruption.  In the semi-final the referee wanted the Italian to win and the Italian won. This problem isn't a new one to wrestling. It has been there for a long time. Ara's way of protesting wasn't a perfect one, but when Ara and his coach wanted to make a formal complaint to FILA (the world wrestling orhanization) they just laughed at him and didn't let them. That kind of behaviour is even worse  - a lot worse I would say.

Eventually it was confirmed also by the IOC that Ara had a very good reason for being angry. Have a look at this:

The lesson we have learnt is obvious isn't it ? Don't judge before you have all the facts !

I judged at the time, and I'll judge him again. Regardless of why he did what he did, he still handled it wrong. He may have had a great reason to protest, but he didn't do it respectfully, and he disgraced the medal, and disrespected all other athletes who have ever competed for an Olympic medal. He deserves to have his medal stripped.
