A special backgammon art exhibition in the honor of Israel's 60th independence day, finished two days ago. "The Art of Reconciliation", that took place at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library on Washington, D.C., used the backgammon game as a metaphor for the young country's wish for peace and reconciliation and the backgammon boards as an empty canvas. The entire exhibition, conveniently "constructed as a 'suitcase exhibition' designed especially for mobility" will be moved to Israel in August. The game of backgammon symbolizes the desire for reconciliation and understanding between opponents in two ways. The first is based on the principle of the game whose goal is to confront and move the participating pieces from one side of the board to the other. The second allows two sides to sit together and play against each other, to watch one another, and to develop a reciprocal relationship.
