Tampa Bay Rays' Success Reaches Sports Illustrated Cover

Laughing Stock Turned Comic Book Cover

Is it a jinx if it's in comic book form?

Either way, Rays fans (if there are some) have to cautiously enjoy this awesome Sports Illustrated cover for the week.

Who would have ever predicted that a) Tampa Bay would grace ANY sports magazine cover b) that it would be a positive reference and c) an intimation of heroism would be made along with extreme steroid abuse.

Yes, that's a muscle bound Carl Crawford hoisting Derek Jeter in front of a bewildered Superman. Shouldn't A-Rod be coming to the rescue?

So in the spirit of hypersensitivity to the SI Cover jinx let us track the Rays from today, May 21st, over at least the next three weeks.

Tampa currently sits in 2nd place, 27-19, one game behind the Boston Red Sox.

Any wagers on the length of Tampa Bay Rays losing streak? I say 15 games.

umm not that i'm a comic book nerd or anything  , but that is actually Bizarro, the opposite of superman from the DC universe.  Thus the bizzaro baseball reference.  just saying is all.

NERD ALERT!!! NERD ALERT!!!  Just kidding, I noticed the same thing...  It does say a lot about how bad the (DEVIL) Rays have been that them being in 2nd place is cover story.  What other franchise has the bat set so low.

So tell me about these 2 young pitchers they say could be ready next year, I know the tall lefty just made his 1st start this week, had a sore arm nothing serious, but he looks nasty, seen highlights
