Problem: The opposing team's quarterback is too good. He's an All-American on his way to Stanford next year and you know that if you don't ring his bell a few times, he'll single-handedly beat you.
Solution: Sure, you could take a cheap shot at him with a late hit, but that's too noticeable. How about you instead drill him right after he kicks the ball off on kickoffs and is left totally vulnerable. Brilliant plan!
Yes, that was indeed the plan used by Pocatello High School in Idaho against Highland High School star Taysom Hill not just once, but multiple times, during the teams' recent October 17th game.
Oh, and just so you know, the head coach of Pocatello was put on administrative leave for one game for these multiple cheap shots, but says he of course had nothing to do with them.
Officials with School District 25 placed Pocatello High coach Tom Harrison on administrative leave [last] Wednesday. Harrison has denied any wrongdoing. Harrison said he would never tell one of his players to go out and hurt someone.
No of course not. He instead said "go out there and *&%! that kid up." See, that's not the same as "go out there and injure that kid." It's almost a completely different sentence. Sort of.Anyway, Hill is all right, and Highland won the game too. As for Harrison, his school completed the investigation and - surprise, surprise - found nothing wrong. So he'll be back on the sideline this Friday.
Let's hope someone cheap shots him on his way to the locker room at halftime.
