The Redeem Team completed their goal, and once again established the USA as the world's premier basketball powerhouse.The USA Men's basketball team won the gold medal game vs Spain on Sunday in Beijing, 118-107. It was a lot closer than their earlier game against Spain in pool play, but Kobe Bryant was huge down the stretch, and Dwyane Wade led the team with 27 points and 4 steals to bring home the gold.
Bryant was fouled late, and Spain's young point guard Ricky Rubino was charged with a technical to shut the door on Spain's chances. Bryant had 13 points and 3 key assists in the 4th quarter. He finished with 20 points, 6 assists and 3 rebounds.
While many feared another US disappointment on the court in Beijing, this team was determined not to allow that to happen. They were far away the most talented team, and showed that throughout. Congratulations to Team USA on a much-needed victory, and for once again reaching the top of the basketball world.
