Croatia had been the top-ranked water polo team heading into the Beijing Olympics, and Team USA was all the way down in 9th place. But none of that mattered on Saturday in Beijing, as the Americans pulled off the incredible upset, beating the Croatians 7-5 in their preliminary round match.The upset could be considered one of the biggest in all of the Olympic Games this year, and moves Team USA into a 3-way tie with Serbia and Croatia for first place in Group B.
The Americans now have a very real chance at winning their first Olympic water polo medal since the 1988 Seoul games, where they took the silver.
