Johnny Manziel leaving Twitter a good idea
He’s leaving social media, that is. Manziel told ESPN’s Mark Schlabach that he is deleting his personal Twitter account in attempt to regain some privacy.
"I've kind of just shut it all off," Manziel said. "With how the media has been with me for a while, I just shut everything off. As of [Monday], I said I was done with [Twitter] for however long. It's fun to have, but it can get to be distracting at points."
Who could blame him?
Manziel has been the victim of fame and commodity since taking home the bronze last December. The media has worked him up to be a celebrity, and that’s exactly how the public views him – even his peers.
Of course, some of this has been brought on himself by… himself. He’s been spotted all over the country at NBA basketball games/locker rooms, Mardi Gras, casinos, in a video with Dude Perfect, and in pictures of girls kissing him over spring break.
Most recently he received some spotlight for shoving a graduate assistant after throwing his third interception of that day’s practice.
Even his girlfriend draws more attention to him. “Johnny Manziel girlfriend” is the second tab to pop up when you type his name into Google (and yes, she IS a model).
It’s been an incredible offseason for Johnny Football, but I think he’s finally starting to understand the repercussions of living like every day is a party.
Or maybe he’s just trying to put his personal life on hush-hush for a little while in hopes of covering up more awesome (yet career-threatening) pictures – which would kind of be like putting a muzzle on a bull in a China shop.
Either way, step up your game Rob Gronkowski.
