According to Dallas News, the entire coaching staff will also receive increased compensation, pending approval from the Board of Regents.

Sumlin, 48, was contacted by numerous NFL teams and a major university before the Aggies offered the new deal.

Texas A&M finished 11-2 (6-2 SEC) in its debut season as a member of the Southeastern Conference.

It had plenty of highlights this year, including wins over No. 1 Alabama on the road and against Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl, and freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel winning the Heisman Trophy Award.

The Aggies are expected to be ranked inside the Top 5 for this fall’s preseason rankings.
