Texas A&M Guard Derrick Roland's Career Is Over, After This Vicious Broken Leg
The good news is that Derrick Roland's surgery went well, and he's recovering. The bad news is that this was a ridiculously serious break, and his career is likely over. Roland is a senior at Texas A&M, and people are comparing this break to the one suffered by Joe Theismann, which ended his NFL career.
His teammates stayed with him at the hospital until his family could arrive, and clearly they were shook at the sight of his injury. In particular, Donald Sloan was devastated. Sloan and Roland had played basketball together since middle school.
Hopefully Roland will recover quickly and completely, but it looks like his playing days are over.
