Texas Longhorns, Oklahoma Sooners Rivalry Moves Straight to the Top; Fan Nearly Loses Scrotum
Texas vs Oklahoma, the Red River Rivalry, has always been in the conversation as the most heated college football rivalry. Michigan - Ohio State is the best as far as I'm concerned (biased Big Ten guy here), USC-ND is outstanding, Florida-Georgia, so many to list that are each heated in their own right. But there's no longer a conversation.

The Red River Shootout just went straight to the top. An Oklahoma fan has been charged with assault for attacking a man who wore a Longhorns t-shirt into a bar. That probably happens a lot, you're thinking. Two guys cheering for rivals get into a silly fight drunk at a bar. Right, but does one nearly lose his scrotum?
Thomas said Beckett, whom he had never met, called him "everything under the sun" for wearing a Longhorns T-shirt into the bar. He said he and his friend sat at a table in the corner and tried to ignore the other man, but the other man kept screaming at him. Thomas said he decided he'd had enough after about 20 minutes of Beckett's abuse so he went to the bar to pay his tab. When he turned around, he said Beckett grabbed his crotch and refused to let go.

Thomas hit the other man several times before several bar patrons intervened, but Thomas said Beckett didn't let go until Thomas heard his scrotum tear and blood ran down his leg.
Note to self: do not; I repeat, DO NOT wear anything remotely burnt orange when traveling through Oklahoma. Screw it, just don't even visit Oklahoma.

I'm glad it wasn't me... lol. I always travel through Oklahoma when visiting family and friends in St. Louis. I sometimes stop to get something to eat... but never a bar. I'm usually always wearing a shirt to represent Texas so I can show off the elite teams we have down here. Usually accompanied by a hat.

This guy was just wearing a t-shirt. I wonder what had happened if it was a jersey and a hat.

I love sports, but there are way too many stupid sports fans out there, present company excluded of course. People who would take their love and passion for their team to the point of physically assaulting fans of opposing teams need to seriously re-evaluate their lives. Sports + nothing else good in their lives = idiots behaving badly.

Ok as the Oklahoma guy here I will defend my Team,School, and State. Here we go... The University of Oklahoma is a very proud university with a very passionate and diverse fan base. While we love team spirit for the Oklahoma Sooners, we do not condone the actions of Mr.Beckett. As a matter of fact, We would like to not have anything to do with dumbass fans that act like fools. Name calling is fine because in reality it is harmless. Mr.Beckett in no way represents Oklahomans at all, I think he might have moved here from another state, probably Arkansas . Now was it foolish for a guy to wear a Texas Longhorns shirt into a bar in Oklahoma, yea it kinda was asking for it. It being some light name calling and the obligitory, "Texas Sucks!" and "Go Sooners!", etc. but the man didn't need to almost loose his scrotum over it.

That said, I am embarrassed that Mr.Beckett is a fan of the school that I go to and wish that he would go away forever. Also, why is the picture on the post of Vince Young hugging or something with Rhett Bomar? I hate that guy for what he did.

to answer the question, probably the hat would have been shoved down the texas guy's throat, causing him to choke and probably causing even more damage to the scrotum when he started fighting for air.

I also do not condone ripping a man's scrotum for wearing a rival T-shirt...     that was a bit far.

I am glad Packer fans are more tolerant...   because I went to school for a year in wisconsin and during the NFL season, I would show up to the local college hangout dressed in Bears clothes and a big hat with fur and a nose/ears, etc.  (the hat sort of looked like someone made a stuffed bear head into a hat...   not exactly but at the moment, it is what is coming to mind...     then I would demand that one of the TV's be turned to the Bears game. :)

then I would sit and cheer for my team amongst people wearing Packers stuff...     luckily, I retained my scrotum and my life.

of course, since I was technically closer to chicago than green bay and didn't leave the campus to do it,  it is possible that my risk was slightly lower than if I had done it further north

Wow! That's wrong, even for the fans of OU-UT Rivarly. This'll never happen in Michigan-Ohio St.
